It’s a loose retelling and the main fmc is a kitten in a burlesque club but I’d recommend it for anyone who wants a modern twist on p&p and/or likes the burlesque setting. One of my issues with p&p is that it takes a long time to root for Darcy and Bennett because they can both come off judgy and I think Vanessa did a good job of making them have those personalities while still being likable. A sparkling contemporary retelling of Pride and Prejudice set in the tantalizing world. Now an executive assistant by day and stage kitten by. I haven’t read pride and prejudice since Hs but it’s a retelling and I remembered liking it so I picked this one up and I just wanted to say that I loved it. After a betrayal derailed her interior design career, Liz Bennet found a fresh start in New York. Anyway, I was looking for a couple new books and saw that this romance book got rave reviews which rarely happens. I don’t always agree with critics but I still think I have a better chance with books that critics overwhelmingly liked than books they hated and sometimes there are people on goodreads who give 5 to everything so it’s hard to go off that. I read a lot of different books because I have adhd and have to mood read and whenever I want mystery/thriller or literary fiction I use a review aggregating website called bookmarks to find books.
